About

A little about the Hull based teddy bear and golly artist Marie Rippingale...

Marie Rippingale of Rippingale Bears combines her passion for dolls and the Victorian and Edwardian eras with the sewing skills handed down by her grandmother to create captivating, one-of-a-kind teddy bears, gollies and purses.

Using only high quality mohair and other fine materials, each teddy bear and golly is handcrafted by Marie Rippingale in the traditional old fashioned way.

Golly girls and golly boys are dressed in vintage clothing or antique fashions made from vintage materials.

Bear purses and golly purses incorporate vintage clasps.

Marie also provides a sympathetic restoration service for well loved vintage teddy bears.

Marie admits she has always had an interest in crafts and vintage items, "I am a teddy bear and golly artist and have had features in specialist magazines."

Marie is now reviving the almost forgotten craft of button doll making. She believes it's a wonderful way to recycle scraps of fabric, buttons and broken jewellery into something fabulous. "My new button doll making instruction book on cd 'Angels in Abundance' is the first in a new series with many button doll making kits to follow."
